And not even Christmas presents for my loved ones. Not even the baubles that I’ll be knitting with participants for my Christmas workshop. No, no – I’m knitting to dress the room for my workshops. (Don’t worry: I already know several psychiatrists – I used to work with them.) Let me describe to you some of the delights that the room will behold. Aside from wondrous example of completed baubles for your Christmas Tree (which will have clearly been knitted by the tooth fairy), we will have a set of two lovely snowflake, fairisle table mats. One of these is already completed and the second is about to be cast on. Matching table runners and coasters are not out of the question. The “show piece”, however, well I’ve been coveting that since I first saw the pattern in the Spring. Have you seen the pattern for Rowan’s Yuletide String? It’s beautiful. And okay, so I may not have an equally stunningl frame for said string to surround, but it’s going to look lovely anywhere: Across a mantelpiece, over a mirror, as a table centre piece. I didn’t mean to, but I got the yarn for it today. I was just so overjoyed at finally reading the pattern with my own two eyes and oogling the beautiful photography that well, one thing led to another and before I knew it, I had a bag full of Lima. Sigh.
Quite honestly, I don’t know which needles to pick up now. I’ve just spent the last couple of days making pom poms and teddy bears (for my Children’s workshop) so I’m about ready for some “serious knitting”. And you know that call of the new yarn – sometimes it’s just too strong to resist. So when I say goodbye to you this evening, what do you think I’m going to do?
